Hi there you green fingered lot,

Before I get my hands dirty I would like to design my garden, I've
noticed various software packages available for this very purpose.

I would just like comments on this Fasttrack 3D Landscape or any other
packages....

If anyone has finished with their copy of Fasttrack 3D Landscape 2.0
i.e. finished their garden, and want to sell it, then I would also
like to here from you also, to arrange a deal...

Thanks very much,

James

People seem to think it's the best of a poor-ish bunch. Having
bought/tried several, I agree - given that you want 3D. If you don't
want 3D, then the "Geoff Hamilton" one has a very nice and easy to use
interface (IMHO).

There is a theory that the Geoff H version is going to come out in 3D
sometime, but as it's not got further than alpha-test (i.e. "it'll look
something like this - yeah, I know it doesn't work properly, but we're
working on it"). Apparently it's 3D graphics promise great things, but I
hope they haven't done anything stoopid along the way.

I'm pretty certain to buy one to try when it becomes available.

hahahaha. Nice try. Having said that, though, you may be lucky. There
may also be someone out there who just can't get on with it and would be
really grateful for someone like you to take it off their hands for a
copper or two.

One of the general comments about these packages is the lack of variety
in the plants provided. They tend to offer anything between (I think)
about 500 or so up to about 2500. Compare that with a good book,
containing about 15000.

<snip>

Good luck, James

There is a stand at the NEC "Gardener's World Live Show" at the
moment, giving Fastrak demos. I was also sceptical about it, but if
you see the Deluxe version get that. It's pretty good, IMHO. Fastrak
seems to win hands down in the _deluxe_ version, but needs a very high
powered computer, 16 bits, 1.33, etc., so I can't use it!
