If I want to use a quicksilver leader, what kind of a knot should I use to
connect it to my line ?
Thanks for any replies !
Bassmaster.

Hi,
I always use Quicksilver for my hooklengths when Eel fishing using a
4 or 5 turn Grinner knot, never any problems....but that wasn't the question
was it?

The best knot for attaching leaders is called the Mahin knot. Its difficult
to describe as I can't post a diagram. Basically you tie an overhand knot
with the quicksilver onto the main line. The main line is then twisted 10
times up the quicksilver, grinner style and then ten time back down to the
start. The end is then threaded through the gap as with a half blood knot.
Moisten and slowly pull tight. The quicksilver being braid will not slip
even with just an over hand knot. The twisted part forms a cone shape and
should face towards the rod tip. This give a good shape for casting and
doesn't catch in the rings. It is a strong knot too.
I hope this makes sense.
Cheers Gareth
