So, Toby needs a registered name, something appropriate for his appearence
into the world!

Bekas full name is Priorywood Final Frontier, named because her dad, Nicky,
was Longmead Voyager (the Trekkie in Si was too great to argue with!) and
Beka was supposed to be the last and only foal we got from Nicks line.

Zorro is just Zorro, so we wont take any notice of that!!!

I'd like to keep the theme, but cant think of anything appropriate. Any
ideas greatly received :-)

Sue

I'm not familiar with the naming practice but I am reminded of

Crewman Daniels

who, after his 'demise' in the series keeps on turning up again
and again unexpectedly.

Hey, I never said I was imaginative!

Cheers,

The Jockey Club refused to allow a gelding to race under the name of
"Noblelocks"!

Perhaps you need a Southern accent to see why!

Since he just seems to have "popped in" -- how about something with the
"Q" character?

How about 'something' Paris (character in Voyager but means other
things to lots of people so doesn't label you a 'trekkie' if you don't
want to be!!) i.e. Priorywood Paris

(and if Paris gets the 2012 Olympics it would be a topical name for the
year)

Further on the Trek themes,

Priorywood Enterprise
or, since the arrival was unannounced, Priorywood Enter Surprise (groan ...)

if the foal takes foolish risks you could always come up with Priorywood
Redshirt :-) but maybe that's inviting trouble!

When we wanted to breed from Meg about 10 years ago we came up with the name
"Nereid" - which has nowt to do with TV programs (except perhaps Patrick
Moore's "The Sky at Night") since Nereid is the name given to one of
Neptune's moons - appropriate because Nereids in classical literature are
sea nymphs - Neptune (Roman name, aka Poseidon for the Greeks) courted one,
and Neptune is the God of the Sea, horses and err... earthquakes ...?

So, there's a sort of space theme going, a sort of horse theme, and a nice
dollop of mythology (not to mention an earth-shattering surprise ...).

We still like the name and might use it one day (if we're lucky), but
there's no reason that there can't be a Priorywood Nereid. The mother of the
Nereids was called Doris, no, really. She made a luvverly cup o' char, did
Doris ...

Hmm, Nemesis - the Goddess of Punishment ... (sucks teeth) "well, if that's
what you *really* want!!!" :-)

Okay, forget the Nereid and the Nemesis ... I just read the first post, and
Toby probably isn't girly enough to use either of these feminine names ...
