Is anyone in here going on the ride? It should be fun if possibly a
little cold

Well I went with a friend and two Icelandics. Only two other riders
turned up so with a field of four we had a most enjoyable 10 mile
ride.
The Icies were absolutely in their element but the two european horses
also coped admirably with the conditions.
There were a couple of sections where the sun had not been able to
penetrate the woods but the air temperature had risen above freezing
during the morning so the ice was softening and our shoes had decent
grip. At the end of the ride we came down a road with a 1 in 3 slope
known as Spout Hill but by sticking to the verge this was no problem.
As we arrived back at the start we saw a group of Morris Dancers
strutting their stuff in the car park of the Triton Inn. The dancers
ribbons and bells set the horses up on their toes as we passed.
