So thus, the question: can anyone recommend a good place to get bikes
fixed in centralish London? I'm starting at Old Street, for your
reference. By 'good' I mean 'reasonably priced' and 'not going to rip me
off when it is painfully obvious I know very little'. I'm currently
planning to go to Bikefix near Holborn, as a nice man there trued up my
front wheel for free when I had an... ungraceful dismount involving a
nasty pothole and a swerve to avoid a pedestrian. I have no more
experience than that, though. I've tried Edwardes in Camberwell a few
times, and while their prices for gear aren't too bad I've never been
impressed by their service: a few months ago I paid out a fair wodge of
cash for a general service, and got the bike back in a fairly sloppy
condition. Sadly I didn't realise for a while how sloppy, by which point
there was little point going back and saying "6 weeks ago you serviced my
bike, and now I know enough to be unhappy with it."
So yes. If someone could recommend a decent repair place near Old Street,
I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
