I have carried a Cyclaire pump with me now since before my 2006 Tour.

Before that I had carried a mini pump but I found it extremely hard work and
I continually bent and frequently broke the "presta valve" tops.

Funnily enough I also converted to Marathon Plus at about the same time. and
so my use of the Cyclaire has been fairly infrequent apart from topping up
occasionally at home. ( and I now have a track pump for that)

Mind you none of my trailers have had bomb proof tyres on and I picked up a
single puncture on every trip!
Actually this year my trailer survived but I collected my first puncture in
a M+ while wheeling my rig across a camp site field!
So I was out the other day and my AirZound horn ran out of "puff".

Instead of not bothering, I had the bright idea to use my Cyclaire pump.
But shock, horror, when I removed it from the "emergency tools pocket" on my
pannier I found that the very small screw cap end ( which you take off to
reverse the sleeve inside to fit Presta/Schrader valves) had disappeared.

So it had become unusable.

I confess that when I emailed Cyclaire via their website I did not expect a
very positive result!

But I must say that they came up trumps

"
Send us your address Trevor, we will drop one in the post.

Keep pedalling!

Cheers, Jonathan
Cyclaire "

That was last Wednesday . I replied with my address and got this in response
on the same day!

"Good picture Trevor. You are not far from where I lived when I took up
cycling - Rotherham.

You will perhaps remember some of my (now departed) Scala Wheelers
colleagues: Lol Delahay, David (Si) Allott and others?

Cheers, Jonathan
Cyclaire"

And this morning at 0730 a small package was pushed through my letterbox --
and there was a whole replacement part -- not just the end cap but the whole
small connecting unit!

And all at no cost to me.

It doesn't seem to happen very often these days but such a swift reaction
and real help was fantastic.

I thought it worth a mention!

Thanks for posting that Trevor, that's very good to know. A little
heavier than a Zefal HPX though. I think I might be more tempted by
the Toepeak Road Morph though which is actually, and somewhat
surprisingly, lighter than the HPX.

I haz one. I also haz a Topeak Roadblaster, which is much closer to
the HpX in design. (The Road Morphe is a mini folding track pump)

Had a similar good experience with Cyclaire. My pump failed after
about 18 months, but only a few uses. When I called them them they
were helpful and replaced it without messing about.

Very happy with the product as well - you can get up to a good
pressure sooo much more quickly than with a mini-pump.

What disease is that?

I really do like the interest which you show in me and my posts.
It is much appreciated.

You should get an email any time now - if you have not already had
one.

Thanks for the ideas:

Many cyclists are proving the need for registration by their contempt for the Highway Code and laws.

The answer:
All cyclists over 16 to take compulsory test, have compulsory insurance, and be registered.
Registration number to be clearly visible on the back of mandatory hi-viz vest.
Habitual law breakers' cycles confiscated and crushed.
(With thanks to KeithT for the idea)

I wondered where the adverts for Pfizer had come from.
Either that or the generous offers of cash for merely allowing my bank
account to be used.

Jayzus - any lamer and it'd need a stick.

Any chance of getting someone to set your time/date correctly?
