but a regular lane, where you occupy the center and ride on while the
cars care about you. Here I reply to a local to local cyclist,
inviting him to join the revolution on two wheels. Note that I say the
SUV drivers are NOT the enemy. Hey, they are potential cyclists!
Wishful thinking?

Comandante, I have been reading your posts with interest. I also like
to ride my bike whenever I can, and agree with you on most things. But
this thread is starting to veer off-topic a fair bit. Maybe you should
start a new thread about Why SUV’s are Bad, or something like that?

Howdy RK,
I don’t have to say SUVs are bad. Everybody who’s concerned about the
health of the planet and the safety of others knows that. But we are
dealing with a much deeper problem that the obvious SUVs. It’s all the
INDIFFERENCE that goes together with the politics of power and money.
You’d assume that the “stumbling block” on the path of cyclists at
65th st would have been removed or at least painted. It hasn’t. The
landscaping keeps getting prettier, but the stupid block is still
there.

Back to the subject. All I want to leave the SUVs, politicians and
contractors alone, is SAFE PATHS OR AT LEAST SAFE ROADS, from South
Beach to Hollywood, and then West to Miami. Collins is no-man’s land
and the causeways are a death trap.

In me broadening the topic (including the lack of pedestrian safety
and SUVs), I have tried to to get more people to care about this
issue. Whether they do or still don’t, it’s beyond my power. I’m
satisfied to let it out.

Hey, we can try sometime to have a long ride, but I won’t be happy
with the scraps (the edge of the road where you are squeezed and still
harassed). We need to TAKE THE LANE and hold it. Then the jungle may
never be the same…
