BBC gets it wrong again...

He was stopped by an officer concerned with bicycle thefts because he
looked (to the officer) as though he might have stolen the bicycle. IOW,
the officer thought he looked like a thief.
So do cyclists want theft of bicycles addressed or not?
If they don't, all they need to do is make that view known (en masse) to
the police, who, as we all surely appreciate today, have far more
important things to deal with. Being able to dismiss bicycle theft as
completely unimportant and not worth any resources would be a
win/win/win for:
- cyclists who don't want to be stopped even if they look like a thief,
- the police, who would be able to give more attention to things that
matter, and
- the rest of us, who would benefit from the second of those.
