1930's and influenced the trends of the 1940's. Work
by major designers. Displays include glamorous 1930's
evening dresses, wedding gowns made from parachute silk
and mosquito netting, smart creations improvised from
German flags and sacking, siren suits made famous by
Winston Churchill for practical dressing in the Blitz,
glow-in-the-dark accessories for visibility in the
blackout, American flying jackets, a frock worn on the
day war was declared, one of the earliest bikinis won
in a raffle in 1949 and examples of Dior's New Look
including a dress worn by Dame Margot Fonteyn.
