Help me to find 'Vermillion' in the UK!

Now I feel really, really stupid! Yesterday morning I sent my first
message to the group, in which I mentioned a wonderful design I'd done.
Now I've checked through my filing cabinet, it turns out that it wasn't
called 'The Castle and Dragon' but just 'The Castle' and it wasn't by
Teresa Wentzler but Janlynn! Apart from that, the message was correct in
every detail! But I still say it was the most incredible and enjoyable
design I've done - to date.
Have any of you ever done that design, and do you agree that it was
stunning? Perhaps even more importantly, have you come across anything
else - possibly in the fantasy line- which is just as impressive, as
I've been searching, and surfing, for such a thing, ever since [approx 4
years now!] I love to do 'big' realistic-looking subjects, with lots of
detail.
I've surfed quite a few cross-stitch sites recently, and greatly enjoyed
it. One of the designers who seems to appeal to my love of colour and
detail is Donna Vermillion Giampa; however she only sells the charts
directly from her website. There are two which I'd love to do - 'The
Renaissance Gentleman and His Lady' and 'Jousting Knights' - and was
about to order the charts, when I remembered that the last time I
ordered from the US, [it was CDs that time] through the 'Net, I ended up
paying so much in import tax etc., to the British Customs, that it would
have been cheaper to have bought the goods in this country! Which leads
me to my last question: does anyone know of a store, or preferably a
website in the UK, where I could order 'Vermilion Stitchery' designs -
or kits?
I do hope someone can help, as I'm so incredibly bored at the moment I'm
actually finishing off some cross-stitch I started 3 years ago [all the
boring background details!] Help!!

I have done the dragon. it looks great. I have not found anything
similar but if you can get hold of some dragon type pictures you can
make charts from them. Either invest in some design software or use a
clear grid and transfer to graph paper.

Actually I believe you DID do Teresa Wentzler's Castle (with dragon)!
The kit was made by the company Janlynn. Check out Teresa's web site

Speaking of dragons on castles, does anyone know the designer of the 'Water
Dragon'? I occasionally see it advertised in UK magazines - it's a rather
sinuous dragon and you can see both wings. I've never seen the name of the
designer. Hoffman's doesn't list it ( unless I blinked and missed it),
another site listed it (maybe Barb's?) but no designer details. Anyone?

that my wife bought me for our Anniversary. There is no designer listed
anywhere on the information that came with the kit. The kit is extremely
well put together and I had an abundance of floss left over. I did change
the fabric from the 14ct Aida that came with it to a 25ct evenweave and even
though this made a larger finished pattern, I still had plenty of floss.
There is a minimum of quarter stitches in the pattern and they do get some
effective shading by doing some areas in full cross stitches with 1 strand
of floss and other areas are done in half stitches with 2 strands of floss.
There are no blended threads or "filament" used with this pattern. I also
have done TW's "The Castle" and this will not be a companion piece. They
are both beautiful in their own right, but TW's colors are softer and more
muted while the colors in the Water Dragon are very vibrant and the two
finished pieces would not look right hung next to each other.
I had seen Water Dragon advertised for years and only wanted the pattern,
but was never able to find it, so I was very glad when my wife purchased the
kit for me. You could possible write to Janlynn Corp. and see if they will
supply you with the name of the designer.

By the way this company has some of the most beautiful dragon cross
stitches I have ever seen. (There is a link back to their home page on this

I plan to order one or two as soon as I get a few of the projects I
already bought started. DH would have a fit if I bought more now having all
the others still waiting to be stitched.
