One winner will receive £20,000 cash prize, £500 Winsor & Newton vouchers and a professional artists website within the netsibition.com portal.
19 Runners-up will each receive £250 Winsor & Newton vouchers and a professional artists website within the netsibition.com portal.
30 Commended paintings will each receive a professional artists website within the netsibition.com portal.

Pastels and drawing may not be submitted but apart from that there are no restrictions on your painting's size or the sort of paint or surface you use. Paintings must be representational art and not abstract.

How to Enter

Either send a photograph of your painting by post or submit an entry via this website - entries to the website are preferred as they give the best representation of the original work.

Judging will take place in February and successful artists will be contacted by the end of the month.
Please familiarise yourself with the Terms and Conditions before submitting an entry.
Entrants under 18 must have written consent from a parent or guardian.
Postal Entries

Simply send a photograph of your painting to NOT The Turner Prize, PO Box 6170, Nottingham NG70 1AB.
Write your name, address telephone number, title and size of painting and paint medium on the back of your photograph.
Photographs cannot be returned.
Digital Entries

Follow the instructions below to submit your digital entry.
You will receive a confirmation of successful submission at the end of the entry process.

Key Dates

Artists progressing through the competition will be informed of the next steps to take at each stage of the competition. To give artists an idea of the timetable, key dates are listed below.
December 13, 2004 Launch of Daily Mail Not The Turner Prize in
Weekend Magazine.
Master classes with a selection of the judges published in Weekend Magazine over the coming weeks.

February 16, 2004 Entries Close.
February 18 & 19, 2004 Judging of postal and internet entries.
Short-listed artists will be informed by post following judging

March 8 to 29 Collection and storage of original paintings in preparation for final judging.
April 13, 2004 Artists can deliver paintings to Mall Galleries in person.
April 16, 2004 Final Judging.

Winner, Runners-up and paintings to be exhibited chosen and artists notified in writing.

All paintings placed in storage.

June 18 to 27 Daily Mail Not The Turner Prize Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London W1.
June 28, 2004 Paintings can be collected from Mall Galleries by artists.
End June -
beginning July 2004 Paintings returned to artists.

Terms and Conditions
Please read the Terms and Conditions below before submitting an entry.
Entries are limited to one per person and must be the sole and original work of the submitting artist; the artist must own the copyright of the painting.
Entries will be judged on artistic merit and the judges' decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
Finalists' paintings will be collected at local collection points and taken to London for the final judging and display at a public exhibition; it will be the artist's responsibility to insure paintings during transportation, handling and exhibition by the Promoter or its agents or suppliers.
The closing date for entries is February 16, 2004.
Finalists' paintings must be available for judging and exhibiting between April and June 2004.
The competition is open only to UK residents.
Any entrants under 18 must have written consent from a parent of guardian.
The Promoter may display any finalists' entries on a website, but reserves the right to remove any entry from such website at its reasonable discretion.
All winners must take part in publicity both in person and with their art.
We regret photographs cannot be returned.
