Mk 4 Golf Avia wheels

I've got 5 spoke 15" Avia alloy wheels on my Golf Mk 4.

The other day I went to swap the wheels front to back and couldn't get
one of the locking bolts undone.

I tried so hard the adapter popped out. I'd managed to twist the
splines inside the head of the bolt so the adapter would no longer
fit.

I got the local tyre service to use a bolt extractor to remove it, but I
would have thought this shouldn't happen if the bolt was done up to
the correct torque in the first place.

Any ideas what torque I should use for these bolts in future?

It's usually around 80lb/ft, but check your manual. I usually go by
"hard hand pressure on the wheelbrace that comes with the car".

Thanks Chris. Nothing in the user manual or the Haynes manual, hence my
post here.

80 ft.lb. equates to about 108 Nm. Sounds about right from what I've
read elsewhere fitting alloys to other makes.
