Replacing tyres
Am at the point of replacing the tyres on my Eriba as they are coming up for 7 years old - but look in excellent condition externally of course. Have been looking online at Tyre-shopper.co.uk and have found a pair of Tigar Seguras for £35.50 each - a lot cheaper than my local tyre supplier. I am almost wondering if they are not too cheap - but then again, for a caravan I assume one is not really looking at the usual qualities one might look for for car tyres, like economy or roadholding. Has anyone any experience of Tyre Shopper or Tigra tyres? Are there any snags to going for the cheapest that I haven't thought of?... more »

Going to Venice
I'm thinking of taking the caravan to Venice. The shortest route is via Switzerland. I seem to remember that the Swiss are unwelcoming to foreign cars let alone caravans and that there are charges. Any advice? Another Dave

I'm playing "hunt the tiny leak" in my campervan but my google powers are lacking and I can't find the regulations as they pertain to camper vans etc. I know that in domestic situations (and in boats) that "no" leak is allowable for LPG but I'm not sure if the same applies to caravans etc.. There's no... more »

Weird Calor gas exchange rules
Has anyone else come across this? [link] On what planet does any of this make sense? Despite the rules, I've never had any trouble swapping cylinders between groups but the logic of the rules eludes me.... more »

Al-ko spare wheel holder
Having dutifully renewed all three caravan tyres on grounds of age (It was a shame to see so much unused rubber, but it just isn't worth the risk) I had to get the spare wheel holder back in place. I am about as far from a muscle man as could be, and I ended up having to use my trolley jack to lift it high enough to secure... more »

Caravan wiring question
... Methinks you have got a little misunderstanding here. Firstly the 12V supply to the fridge is purely for the interior light. It will work on gas or 240V without 12v . As the fridge cooling draws typically 10A at 12V you would not want it connected to the caravan battery under any circumstances. In that... more »

Mr Shifta
Is there a reason for the Mr Shifta caravan mover not being available anymore. If anyone knows of an owner who wants to part with one I would like to buy one. Thanks. -- rolandrat
