I was in Limerick on Wednesday. Driving from Shannon airport into town,
I noticed a female pied wagtail perched on concrete road construction
blocks. Lots of nice holes and crevices. The bird had a large, winged
insect in its beak and looked as though it was heading to feed young. Is
it likely that pied wagtails had young in Limerick at the end of
October?

I am not an expert on pied wagtails but I think it's unlikely she was
feeding a brood at this time of year. It might have been she got it for
herself and you spotted her before she could eat it.
