Our old pony loved black sunflower seeds in her feed, now she has moved on
to the big paddock in the sky I have a large sack of seeds left, do I need
to crack the shells before putting them out for the birds or will they cope
on their own

They'll cope quite happily, and strew the shells all over the
ground. Best to put them somewhere where you could use some
mulch.

If you microwave the seeds for 60 seconds before filling the
feeder they won't sprout.

Thanks Anne for the info. that is a good tip about microwaving the seeds
before feeding :-)
