Mainline links - why are they not used?
Whilst Swanage to its great credit proceeds with activating its mainline link for regular train services - just about ALL other preserved railways that have mainline links simply don't bother to use them for regular services after all the effort and expense of creating them; and many do not even occassional charters from the mainline.... more »

Balloch Line incident last night
All First Scotrail services from Dumbarton Central to Balloch yesterday evening were curtailed because of a bridge strike DJ international and Mc Colls providing replacement buses. Does anyone know which bridge and what hit it.

Tickets on mobiles.
In the few cases where experiments have occurred with tickets on mobiles (Chiltern?) how does the ticket get transmitted? Is it a text message (doubtful if the "ticket" is a bar code of some kind). Or is it an e-mail (with an attachment?). Or something else?
