alternative name for the PC

Cos the phone only has limited Skype settings
Don't set up Skype on the phone, do it on your PC.
Set the settings as you want them, and then use the user name
and password you have set up on your PC, to set up Skype on your phone.

with M&M 300 and free Skype, for 15quid a month.
My 3 Skype is included in my 6 month contract.
In 4 months time, i'll ask 3 CR if they can do me a cheap upgrade deal

I only have Skype cos it's included in my 3 contract, which i got mostly
cos it was only 6 months and included a bonus of 2000 3to3 mins
if you took out two deals at the same time.
Which covers all my calls to and from the GF for 6 months
for no more than the price of the phones if they had been bought on PAYG.
I think the 6 month deal can still be had, but not including Nokia 6120,
only cheaper phones now inc on the deal

There's a problem getting calls on any phone after your credit expires!
Mine can't expire, i'm on contract i just have to watch usage
and try not to make 08xx calls or chargeable planet 3 wap services.
Unlike many networks, 3's call register updates quickly
and keeps you well informed as to your usage and remaining mins, etc.
on 3 PAYG it's 444 option 1 option 1
on 3 contract it's 333 option 1 option 1
BTW if you have inclusive minutes, 020 0222 0700 callthrough
will give you access to 0800 numbers for no extra charge

One thing to watch on Skype - it likes coopting your compute resources.
If you pay per data used that can cost. Watch your CPU load and network
resources. Things may have changed. I banished it for this years ago. I
understood the model at the time to be "Use the customer's compute
resources in a distributed fashion", which does reduce the cost for
Skype. It was very good at getting past firewalls.

Serious egress filtering except when you need it, or resource usage
limiting except when you need it?
Use a dedicated external device, which sound like they're available now,
that doesn't have the resources useful for this distributed computing.
It may still take your bandwidth though.
If you have a mobile phone with Skype then presumably your contract does
not have you pay for this, in what seems the less likely event there
will be any processing on your phone.
