what are MM3s going to do for their holidays now ? .......
The DSS will give them more money so they can fly by proper airlines.
Easyjet, Ryanair or Thomsonfly...
Could BA be next to fall? Maybe this should be a warning to their staff.

Ian
Would hardly be a big loss.
They're expensive, their customer service sucks and their staff need
taken down a peg or twelve.
They've all but abandoned Scotland anyway.
I'm sure Virgin would be more than happy to take up the slack from BA's
collapse.
I used to fly BA quite a bit on business (Club Class), and thought they
were great. When my job changed, and I ceased to do business trips, they
cheated on me, and gave me some duff information, resulting in the
deletion of nearly 150,000 Air Miles (not the reduced-value BA Points)
which I had accumulated over a period of over 15 years. They absolutely
refused to reinstate them. Since then, I have had several Virgin package
holidays (flying Premium Economy), and find them very good indeed.

11. And another 2 were on order.
Makes you wonder how it could go so quick - you don't usually get into
trouble that quick, especially when you can still order multi-million
pound planes.
Well when your booking agent owes you 20m for completed journeys it
doesn't make easy. A further 10M was paid by customers to the booking
agent and not paid to Globespan for journeys still to be made.
blame credit card companies who won't now pay until the flight has landed to
avoid them being liable to the customer........the world is fecked
You don't pay a taxi until the journey is complete - why should the
airline be any different?
I don't know ........because you don't know the final price?.......
> You don't pay a taxi until the journey is complete - why should the

...for several reason that should be obvious to most people.

Always lots of amateur radio gear!

At least with flying, you don't have the bleedin' pilot wanting to
hold boring conversations about who he's had as passenger and what's
gone wrong with the country since Mad Maggie abdicated.
Taxi drivers? Morons. The lot of 'em.
Nick.
or you are an obvious scumbag...like an MM3 ..........
Anyway, we're being pedantic (somtehing most of us are quite good at!) -
there is no excuse for the 'clearing' company to hold on to 20 million
in monies for already paid for and completed journeys.
There's an exception for Kilmarnock and Dundonald - 'customers' from
those parts have developed a tendancy to run away before paying.
We don't have meters here - fixed prices.
Neither will a passenger jet. Weather forecasts are not always accurate,
so the airline will not know if the aircraft is flying into the wind, or
getting some help with the wind behind it.
Dave
Much like our taxis here - we have a fixed price for a journey, with no
meter.
So some things that would push the price up or down on a meter don't
affect the price.
speaking of John Lennon I saw a Beatles tribute band at winterfest today and
very good they were to......took me right back to '63

Good man!
Just been dragged around a garden centre by matron
SHE wants more Christmas lights
So I reminded her that if she wanted more lights all we had to do was to go up to
Blackpool
Any way talk about rip-off
Paraffin at 2.50 a litre in 4 litre plastic cans
And I always thought paraffin was cheaper than petrol
I can now understand syphon tubes hanging from both wings ;o)

Too late, I was at Blackpool a fortnight ago (I think I must have upset
the Boss) and the illuminations have been switched off for a month.
Kilmarnock has a better Christmas display than Blackpool.

I never get anything for upsetting the boss .......ken

Have you seen the price of cooking-oil, since it became legal to use
it in (diesel) cars?
Nick.
You're getting an 'early Oft'!
Wouldn't use the stuff
Mate of mine has a disco thought he was being clever saving a few bob a litre

In a 1 to 5 mix with diesel, cooking oil is supposed to be okay, but
you're only saving pennies. I don't see it being worth the effort.
Nick.
he had no say in the matter...EVERYBODY who wanted out got it ......they are
that desperate to save money......thank God
Was that the local scroats that did it?
Dave
OFFS where did the name of winterfest come from?
These days, I can't stand Christmas because of it's over
commercialisation. Bring back the Christmas of my childhood.
Dave
Thanks for that nick, I'm RAOTFLMAO right now.
Dave
Can't see what they could use it for. It stinks when burned.
Dave
It was about 1 a litre for ages.
USED veg oil, processed correctly, is what you want. The worst bit about
it is filtering it before processing though.

A friend ran his 405 diesel no problem at all on vegetable oil,
3 litre bottles from asda were cheaper than 25 litre drums.
Adding 5% white sprit helps both thin it, increase combustibility,
and raise freezing point

FlyGlobespan operated the flights to and from the Falklands via
Ascension Island for the RAF. There were a few places for civilians
too on these flights which is how the G6UW chaps got themselves to
Ascension Island for their dxpedition earlier this year. (Just to keep
the thread AR-related!)

why worry about that....
The Falklands run was done by RAF Tristars but these are
needed for routes into active conflict areas. The Falklands are now
at peace so it makes no sense for the RAF to be running a civil
scheduled airline.
Might make them enough profit to afford Harriers and Chinooks at the
same time, perhaps? As long as their credit card company pays them, that is.
Well they way it works is, if you temporarily have a pile of cash, even
it if it's not yours, you make it work for you. Say the financial
equivalent of putting it on a dead cert in the 3-30 at Chepstow. That
way you make a little extra cash before you hand it over. But as they
keep telling us , investments can go down as well as up.
Bit in here about some associated convoluted business deals.
