Hi Brian,

My son G8UEE and I have just returned from COMET ( the shop not the other
one )

30 off the price of that Samsung 140 today making it 299.99

So we left with 2.

The 130 is down to 219.99 with XP Home

So in time I will get to try Win7 Starter out on it.

One for son Stephen G8UEE.
One for Daddy.

I tried to get him to charge both to his plastic but he was having non of
that.

Just been setting them up tonight.
Quite interesting..
And a surprise, one year prepaid for MS Office.
God its moved on from my Toshiba Libretto. Lol.
Only time will tell.

But my son and I were in Comet Sunday gone.
They were 330, the guy would not price match DABS at 310 or
even offer a deal on 2.
We went in Comet tonight for a totally different reason and there was
30 off it.
I saw the same guy, I told him we would have paid the 310 on Sunday if he
had price matched.
They would have been 20 better off.

Strange world the costing of items.

True. When weeping over falling prices, though, just spare a thought for all
those dumba^H^H^H^H^Hpeople who are stuck with a 35 a month contract for 18
or 24 months when they thought they were getting something for nothing. It
then becomes easy to be philosophical, having paid less than 50% for similar
hardware.

No. When launched, Clive announced them as the "sub 100 computer.".
To be exact 99.99

But by the time they were actually being sold they had dropped to
79.99.

ISTR the ZX81 hit the streets at 69.99 or 49.99, if you bought the
kit and built it yourself.

Happy days. :-)

Nick.

You do realise, of course, that posting that after he's bought a couple is
tantamount to torture?

One 160 gig drive and XP
Other 250 gig with Win 7. We bought that one .

In passing a whole YEAR FREE of Windows Office.

But the strangest world is insurance - in particular car insurance.

Does anyone else on this NG receive a renewal notice and then go onto a
price comparison website to get the same deal FROM THE SAME INSURER for
considerably less.

As you say, strange world the costing of items.

Did that last month, the post office wanted 580 quid to renew but
offered 380 via confused . com. They would not renew at this price so
lost the account and I ended up paying just 260 quid with hastings.

Pays to shop around these days for most things and with the net I don't
even need to get off my fat rs.

No. But then I've not changed insurer for years, and price comparison
websites don't do motor trade insurance.

I do keep getting emails and phone calls from companies offering me car
insurance, even though the company phoning doesn't do trade insurance
either!
