An anonymous "top British official" accused Iranian Revolutionary
Guards of supplying explosives to guerrilla groups in southern Iraq
which killed "all eight" British soldiers killed in Iraq this year.

A cannonade of brass balls, indeed, to prepare the way for the conquest
of the next oil target. Two SAS men have already been caught
red-handed by police in Basra with a car-bootload of explosives and
arms. Iraqis have accused "British saboteurs" of "planning explosions
in the city which would be blamed on followers of Moqtadr al-Sadr, the
Shia cleric".

see the broader picture.

The anonymous Brit official also suggested that Iran could be
attempting to warn off Britain over its nuclear program. A tie-up of
two attack-pretexts that Ollie North might have called "pretty neat".
