Fat-Cat control law made by citizens' democracy

Economic direct democracy can be effective as shown in a recent campaign
(below).

In Britain we have no instruments of direct democracy. As a result the
public interest is poorly represented by political parties and
government. We need to campaign for a Democracy Act of parliament in
order to introduce these effective methods of running our public affairs.

Citizen-led direct democracy has been used to regulate payments made to
directors and managers of large companies.

By a majority of almost 70 percent the Swiss people recently decided in
a binding citizens' ballot to control excessive payments made to
employees and directors of stock market companies. The new company law
so introduced will enable shareholders, rather than managers or board,
to fix payments to high-level staff and will ban "golden" handshakes and
parachutes.
