You seem to have forgotten about the people who are ambidextrous.

that's 100% - what about the ambidexterous, not to mention those who are
completely armless?

Or those who are naturally left handed but who, through a stroke or
similar, are forced to be right handed??

From the original post:
12% of the *people in the world* a left handed
So, yes!
I suppose it is just possible that the number of people counted twice
(ambidexterous) is equal to the number of people not counted at all (armless)
>> neither of those take account of those with missing appendages :-)

Nope. Why are you assuming that all of the people missing one (or more) of
their hands were originally right-handed? ;-)
Are you taking account of those who are ambidextrous, and if so what
proportion of the 12% lefthanders does that account for? :)

Perhaps he's counting those in both LH and RH numbers.

If so, that makes both figures wrong. ;-)
I wouldn't argue with that - they aren't my figures after all. Perhaps he
was trying to say 12% of people in the world are solely left handed,
meaning the other 88% are made up of all the others regardless of whether
they are solely right handed, ambidextrous, limbless or whatever else can
be thought up, like the 'Mouth and Foot Painting Artists'

Well, that's not what he wrote...

I know that. But we often don't say exactly what we mean do we? :-)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who switches hands/feet when necessary.
I play tennis with a back hand only (I switch hands, it don't half
throw out my opponent!!); shoot with the rifle against my right
shoulder; kick a ball with my left foot; write right handed by
training although I'm naturally left handed so I use both; bowl
(10-pin) with either hand; catch and throw with my left hand; if I'm
only using one hand to type with I'm quicker with my left hand than my
right; rounders or cricket I'll use the bat in either hand but
predominantly left hand for rounders and right for cricket!!
> I know that. But we often don't say exactly what we mean do we? :-)
True, but rest assured that when what we said isn't exactly what we meant
there's always someone handy in UPS with the nit-comb to point it out to us.
;-)
Yes but isn't it a fact that even if you don't have any arm because
(left/right handedness is controlled by the brain ) then you would still be
either technically right handed, left handed or ambidextrous which in turn
affects your favoured foot?

People will forget what you said.
People will forget what you did, but
People will never forget how you made them feel.
I've lost mine though. Will Giz's flea comb do?
