They've used Macromedia Flash. Not something the average bod is likely
to be able to produce at home.

The source for the page gives us:

which means the source file is hosted elsewhere, which is probably what you
would have to do with the movie file produced by your camera.
btw I'm no html coding expert, but I wouldn't have thought it'd be too
difficult? Bear in mind that not everyone has broadband.

As someone has already mentioned it's a Flash Movie. Basically you would
need a copy of Flash or an animation program that can export in flash
format. Converting videos to flash can be a bit involved though, if your not
used to that type of thing.
There are other methods of incorporating videos into pages, but Flash is by
far the most reliable since most browsers have a Flash plugin. OTOH there
are so many different video formats, plugins and codecs not to mention
people using different OS systems and the fact that Video files can be quite
large that simply embedding videos in pages is too unreliable. However flash
works quite well for short video animations like this and you can even
incorporate a preloader animation for people on dial-up :)
Another method you could use is animated GIF, you wouldn't get the sound and
you would need to convert your video frame by frame and GIF files don't
benefit from supersonic JPEG compression like Flash, but if can be done with
animated GIFs. But Flash is by far the best method.

And you think somebody who knows so little about html that they have
to ask other people how a "video" has been embedded, is going to be
well equipped enough to locate, evaluate, install and use such
products? I'll stick with my "average bod" scenario, thanks. ;o)

Yes they probably could I dare say most people learn by tinkering about with
various software. Making videos into Flash movies is a bit of a learning
curve though, and even though there is free software about and you still
need know quite a broad range of things to get it right.

Except that, because he very much wanted to climb a particular,
difficult, rock-face, he gave up drink and drugs, lost 7 stone, and
became fit, self-reliant and grown-up. All in the space of 6 months or
so.
