well PO claim delivery but don't have a sig to show, alleged
"recipient" says its up to him to claim and i can sit back, is
this correct. this

This is his latest email, is he correct.....

"Dear andrewianfox33,

Hi Andrew, ebay will not need to be involved any more in this and all I
require from you is the original posing receipt which should have all
the info on I require, I also need your address etc. as I will claim as
recipient.
http://www.royalmail.com/customer-service/personal-customers/refunds-and-compensation/claims-process
Copy of claim form P58 is available on the mail site. Much easier if I
claim then you will not have to cancell ebay transaction and refund me.
Hope you agree, cannot do anything until 15 working days have past. Hope
to receive info. from you shortly. Len Sengelow. 3, Ocean Road,

Posting his name and address here wasn't very neighbourly.

Fair comment BUT is he right, what does it all have to do with
me, I am certainly reluctant to send him the original posting
receipt

And I would have thought the Royal Mail's contract was with you, not
the recipient.

ISTR it's legally weird, the Post Office has some sort of special
status which means that normal contract law doesn't apply. I expect
someone will be along to explain it shortly.

Royal Mail operate under statute not contract. Instead of a contract
they operate ‘Schemes’ published under the Postal Services Act 2000.
When you send something using most Royal Mail services there in no
contract between the sender and Royal Mail.

One consequence of this is that in case of loss either the sender or
intended recipient can institute a compensation claim.

And yet again you post the name and address of the buyer.

You'd better hope they don't do a search for themselves and find out what
you've been saying about them.....

You're a bit thick then.

You posted his addy in your original post and then reposted it when you
replied to your own post.

That clear enough for you?

Yes, I must admit that occurred to me too. Would there be any use in real
life for a philosophy degree?

Look in your "sent" folder at the post you sent. It contained the buyer's
address.

If I'd wasted my time at uni with that tat, I certainly wouldn't try using
it to seem superior to anyone.

I bet he did that in the days before you had to pay - I can't see anyone
these days committing their future to a large student debt for a philosophy
degree when they've little hope of getting a proper job to pay for it
(unless of course you intend never to work, in which case I believe the debt
never has to be paid?)

But you'd still have to admit to wasting time getting such a
"qualification".
