Some sellers are saying 'May not post to Scottish Islands' even for
articles that go by Royal Mail where the price is standard throughout
the UK. I have just had my bid on an article automatically rejected when
I bid in the closing seconds on an item that was then sold for 40% less
than the bid I made. The auction said only 'May Not'
To cover the eventuality of me purchasing an article which can only be
sent by courier I have an address in England where they can be sent and
this is in my Paypal account as an alternative delivery address.
If sellers just indicated that delivery to remote areas may attract an
additional charge then there would be no problem but I see the present
setup as discriminatory.
I wonder what ebay would say to sellers that filtered all bids to reject
those from some post code areas that have a bad reputation for crime. I
would guess they would say that it was discriminatory.
