I wanted to list this with a starting price of 50p (making about 3p
profit)[1], but as I went through the process, I found that 1.85 was
the minimum which I could set to avoid actually making a loss.

I'm glad that I'm not trying to make a living at this eBay lark, but
it's become very silly trying to redistribute secondhand (or even new)
tat to people who actually want it.

[1] ignoring what I paid for it ITFP, which I have wrtitten off
anyway.

Bah!

You obviously have a lot of time waffling about on your listings for
something that you want to sell for 2 quid. Then you have the audacity
to spam this group. Have you bothered reading the upce charter?

Point taken, but that's only if it sells for the minimum price though,
and presumably this thing is worth a bit more than that? And setting
the starting price above the lowest price you would accept isn't
necessarily the best strategy - arguably setting the starting price at
50p would get you a higher selling price by attracting more bidders (and
everyone knows that buyers get sucked in by the items which have more
bids on).

Not defending ebay's ridiculous charges/policies in any way though...

But trolls think they're being rather clever, and from what I've seen
lately they're not very clever at all.

Well, it's actually worth nothing to me. It's been lying about for
months and I just want rid of it.
I've seen them listed at prices between 5 and 15, but most of the
listings end with no bids - as I expect that mine will.

I wanted to set it at 50p. I doubt if I'll get more than one bidder,
if that. Nobody wants to buy my tat any more.
There is an argument which says that it is disadvantageous to set a
low starting price, because potential buyers will think it's not worth
buying.
I've actually experienced this (long before eBay was invented).

Not to mention Royal Mail's charges/policies :-(

It's very easy to confuse ignorance with stupidity.

I'm not sure what that has to do with what I wrote, which I suppose
just goes to show that it's also easy to confuse stupid. :-)
