If I sell product and state in the adverts my discount on postage for 5 or
more items.(low value stuff)
If someone then purchases 5 items and receive their postage discount and
then leave a neg for postage costs.
Will ebay reverse this? Or am I wasting my time trying.

Probably not, your best bet is to pull their contact details and phone them
up and ask them why. People become ever so reasonable then and will probably
agree to a feedback revision request if you ask for one to turn it into a
positive.
