No, I don't think it's ridiculous. It's probably not safe to cycle down a
gradient that steep, or more likely, cyclists will be tempted to travel at
unsafe speeds. If you're travelling at 40mph down a slope and a sheep walks
in front of you, it could be fatal for the cyclist (and probably the sheep).

So as you can see, what I said was really contentious and will require
several moderators to decide between themselves whether or not to allow it.
I expect at least 24 hours and more reasonably a few days before it it
