Notice regarding moderation of uk.rec.cycling.moderated

The committee has received a request from the uk.rec.cycling.moderated
moderators to publish the direct (urcm-mo...@chiark.greenend.org.uk)
address on the relevant usenet.org.uk web pages.
The committee has agreed to do this, and to also publish the
postm...@chiark.greenend.org.uk alternative address. However the
committee does not believe that this changes the position regarding
contacting the moderators as previously stated.
The practice of using %s-re...@usenet.org.uk has been common within uk.*
for a long time (the newsadmin FAQ refers to them from, at least, January
1997). Whilst they have never been a formal part of the guidelines, uk.*,
as well as much of the rest of Usenet, has always taken note of prior
precedent. The committee feel that it would be against the best interests
of the uk.* news hierarchy to encourage new groups to take the backwards
step of moving away from this commonly accepted convention.
We therefore repeat our request for the moderators to ensure that the
standard address is fully supported by the moderators' mail system.
