Summary:
Uk.arts.poetry is a group for anyone interested in poetry of any style or
period. The intention is particularly to provide a newsgroup which can
function as a workshop for writers of poetry but also for criticism and
discussion of published and original work and for posting notices of
events, courses etc in the UK.
Rationale:
There is no equivalent UK based group dealing with the art and craft of
poetry. Equivalent groups with world wide propagation carry a great deal
of traffic, are heavily biased towards the US and generally are not
critically oriented.
Charter:
The group is a place for critical discussion of poetic works in the
English language. The posting of full or part poems written by the poster
is particularly welcomed with the object of discussion on the merits,
technique or content of the work in question. Other discussion on the art
and craft of writing poetry is also welcomed. The posting of very long
poems is to be avoided but extracts with a reference to a URL or FTP site
would be acceptable.
Extracts from work of other authors may be posted but only subject to the
normal copyright considerations and in order to assist in discussion or
criticism.
Notices of workshops, readings, signing sessions etc may be posted
if they are brief and in accord with the proposed policy on advertising.
Advertising:
Short (less than 20 line) announcements of events relevant to readers are
permitted; blatant off-topic or commercial advertising is not.
Binaries:
Binaries are not permitted on this group, however references to
FTPable material and Web URL's are welcomed.
Moderated:
This group is unmoderated
