Does anyone out there know why the Boston Crabs (in '66) and then Amen
Corner the following year with what was effectively a cover of the latter
disc, recorded the song 'Gin House Blues' without the 'Blues' in the title.
Certainly both 45s were adaptations of the original, and the lyrics were
changed (though the original writers only were credited), but I really need
to know the authentic reason.
Cheers

I don't know about the Boston Crabs (in fact I'd never heard of them), but
as for Amen Corner: whatever the reason, the full title was given on later
albums. Perhaps it was the record company at the time, with some bee in
their bonnet about public preferences for titles, or there being no market
for blues, or some such tosh.
