I thought I would say Hi as it's rude to drop in unannouced ;-)
My name is Dan Ranger and have been playing the ol' geetar since
*cough* the early 80's. So yuo can see I started playing when it was
all kicking off guitar wise ;-)
I have many influeneces old and new, but ones that stick out are
EVH,George Lynch,Glenn Tipton and James Hetfield. I got pushed into
lead playing in the eatly days as I was the only guitarist....so it
sort of made sense LOL
I gigged all around the south coast in the 80's in various thrash/
power metal combo's untill I joined Hydra Vein in 88. Recorded a few
albums then went into retirement. I still plyed in the 90's but just
noodled abit at home until this year I hooked up with Clive Murray
through the net. Bizzarely he had played with my brother years ago.
So hopefully the cover band we are in will rear it's ugly head soon...
Thanks for listening and hope to post more soon.

Try telling that to Bert Weedon! Although EVH, whoever he is, probably did
boost guitar sales acceptibly in the 80's. Willkommen!

It was a Christmas panto. I was six, and had the first crush of my

Thanks to all for the kind welcome.
Hoping to get stuck in to this inbetween playing and the odd bit of
"real life"!
I now have a nice pic of Bert next to Ed. Both guitar gods ;-)

There are more than two, Dan :-)

Around here you'll find disciples of these Gods (amongst others and in no
particular order)

Steve Vai
Joe Satriani
Yngwie Malmsteen
Frank Zappa
Hank Marvin
Joe Bonnamassa
Ritchie Kotzen
Nick Beatty
Angus Young
George Benson
Paul Kossoff
Peter Green
Jimmy Page
Paul McCrone
Jeff Beck
Eric Clapton
Jimi Hendrix
Clive Murray
Robben Ford
Martin Simpson
Tommy Emmanuel
Eddie Van Halen
Randy Rhoads

Feel free to add your own :-)

I am a big Kotzen fan,not just for his guitar skills. His voice and
songwriting is very good. He ditched the whole 80's shreddie thing and
went his own way.
Ok a few of mine...

George Lynch
James Hetfield
Gary Holt
Nile Rodgers
Vitto Bratta
Ronni LeTekro
John Norum
John Sykes
Micheal Schenker
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Criss Oliva

Recently..
Jeff Loomis
Mathias Eklund

I like a bit of country too... life and music is too varied to be
narrow minded ;-)

I saw him in about 1968 in Blackpool, with Tommy Steele of all people...

I wondered who would be the first to spot any of those
:-)

I suppose you're happy enough being just underneath Ritchie Kotzen?
