After successfully organizing a mesmerising evening by Ustad Rashid
Khan in London, N A A D is organising this unique concert of “Rare
Jaipur Beats & Patiala Melodies by Pt. Rajkumar Misra & Chandrima
Misra” in Purcell Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall, London on Friday the
4th December 2009, 7.45pm.
First half will be a solo tabla performance by Pt Rajkumar Misra
followed by hindustani vocal by Chandrima Misra in the second half.
Excellent performer & dedicated Guru at the Bhavan Centre in London,
Pt. Rajkumar Misra is highly knowledgeable about classical Indian
rhythms & beats. He not only has mastery over the rare compositions
within the Jaipur & Farukhabad Gharanas, but also other Gharanas of
Tabla. The richness of his techniques, and the power and clarity
through which he can literally make the tabla “sing”, render him a
worthy heir to the heritage of the Jaipur Gharana of Tabla and Kathak
dance. Accompanying him on Sarangi is Surjeet Singh.
A vocal virtuoso, Chandrima Misra, belongs to Patiala Gharana.
Aesthetically very strong, she has created her unique style within the
Patiala Gharana. The subtlety & skill, with which she develops ragas
and embellishes them with intricate ornamentation, creates a truly
unique aesthetic and an ambience which is charged with emotions &
feelings. She is a brilliant vocalist and a highly knowledgeable Guru
at Bhavan Centre in London. Accompanying her on harmonium is Ustaad
Fida Hussain & on tabla is Sanju Sahai.
