It's true!

CHARLTON ATH 0-3 ARSENAL
Women's AXA FA Premier League
Hayes Lane, Bromley FC
Thursday April 25th
Kick-off: 7.45pm

Our ladies made it back-to-back championships with a 3-0 win at Charlton's
Bromley ground.

Two goals from the evergreen Marieanne Spacey and one from the prolific
Angela Banks secured our second title in two years with a game to spare.

The Women's AXA FA Premier League trophy will be presented to the team after
the mens final league game of the season at Highbury against Everton on May
11th.

Spacey opened the scoring after just three minutes, she netted from a
seven-yard free kick after Cope in the Charlton goal picked up a backpass.

Angela Banks made it two after 26 minutes when a Spacey pass lobbed the
defence and gave her a simple finish.

Spacey rounded off a special night with another close range finish for the
third.

Manager Vic Akers said afterwards: "It's been a hard year and a long year.
We've had one or two distractions, and gone out of both cups. But winning
here was the important thing. We'll be in Europe again next year."

Okay, Mr Smarty-Manc, if you were standing where the assistant was standing
(and bear in mind they had a camera that showed it from his point of view)
could you honestly say that in the five seconds you get to make such a
decision that you would be able to say it's a goal ?

Ashley Cole's body blocked his view, simple as that. These things happen to
everyone, and they balance themselves out over the course of the season.

No I couldn't Mr Smarty Gooner!! That is why he shouldn't have
been making STUPID decisions like that! He overruled the referee
for gods sake!

From the refs point of view it probably wasn't a goal either.

That doesn't mean it wasn't a goal. When are they going to admit
that TV evidence is needed for this sort of thing, I mean come on,
even though as an Arsenal fan you're obviously quite happy about
the decision and yes I know you scored 2 goals anyway even if the
game could of gone completely the other way if the goal had been
allowed, even baring all that in mind, you must agree that it's wrong
that decisions like that should be allowed to possibly have a baring
on who wins the championship. If Arsenal had drawn or lost that
game then it would have made the United game a bit interesting
wouldn't it!!

It's not just this one, WBA have been promoted I know but they got
one of these a few weeks ago that could have really screwed them
up if Wolves hadn't done their absolute best to throw promotion
away. (Which they did!) :o)

I just don't think leagues and cups should be decided by basic
refereeing mistakes.*

Dave
*Disclaimer: Yes I know it was pretty nigh on impossible for the ref
to see it but hell, we'll blame him anyway! :o)

No, it doesn't, but at no point did I say it wasn't a goal. Arsenal have had
loads of incorrect offsides and bad decisions given against us, but on one
of the rare occasions that something finally goes our way we get berated for
it.

Of the eight league games this season where we conceeded the first goal we
have won four teams, drawn three and lost only one, so I don't think it's a
foregone conclusion that we would have lost.

I agree, but there must be a one minute time limit. If the replay cannot be
cued up, viewed and the decision made in that minute by an extra official
then the refs decision stands. Football lasts for 90 minutes, not two hours.

I'm not berating you for it, if you go back to my original post
you'll see I was making light of it. I'm merely having a go at the
fact this sort of decision is still allowed to be made even the though
the technology is easily in place to make sure it isn't!

I'm not saying you would have gone on to win the game, it just might
have happened. The thing is we'll never know.
Look, I'm not saying this is Arsenal's fault, Audley Harrison is getting
slated because he's fighting "Bums" but he can only fight what is
put in front of him. Football teams can only act on decisions that
are made by the referee.

It wouldn't have to be two hours, replays are played alomost
instantaneously now.
