meccano as well, I had loads including the Clock. The bridge idea seemed
half hearted and why Edwina Currie was involved I don't know.
The students took it seriously but the plan just seemed weak. The water
tank wasn't of maeccano so that's ruined it for starters.
Like the plasticine what happens to it now?

I can remember geting my first set around 7 or so for Xmas. I couldn't
work ou why some of the pieces were bent and it was only years later
that my mum told me that when it had arrived from the ctalogue, my dad
couldn't wait for me to open it at Xmas and had been playing with it
when I had gone to bed for several weeks before Xmas day.
Similarly, my Scalextrix spent several weeks set up at his brother's
house.
Was always more a Lego man myself.

Isn't he doing Lego as well in this series? I remember reading about a
full-size house they'd made that had to be demolished later due to a
lack of planning permission or something. Has that one been on yet?

Next week is the Scalextric one and Radio Times lists it as 4/4, the
mini railway and Lego seem to have vanished, probably saving them for
over Christmas.

Me too, despite my dads attempts to get me into Meccano. I think that
was the reason why Meccano fell in popularity, as you can often make
something similar to Meccano models with Lego, but do it much more
quickly and easily.

one of the guys, instead of doing something 'arty' like the one they built.
I did think it was funny though how it was the "experts" at the Meccano

I thought it was odd that it could be made profitably in France using
some of the old production equipment, so why was it sold off in the

They could've shown it over the end credits. Those students did a
lot of work, and deserved a go. Or at least let the girl cross.
