I didn't l;ook at the write up on this and hadn't realised it was on -
the kids called out it was a film about climbing and I thought *great -
Into thin Air* but no - 2 mins in and Robin minus batman and the small
woman from Mentalist were dangling off a mountain with their dad.

Has Bill Paxton ever played anyone *not* a whiny not to be trusted type?

It had Dr Bashir from DS9 in it as well as Jango fett from Starwars -
though with a dodgy Pakistani accent , he's a New Zealander IIRC.

I had to laugh at the IMDB trivia page - *factual errors* "" Everything
shown about high altitude climbing , helicopter use, high altitude
equipment is wrong""

I'd rather have seen Into thin air: Death on Everest or that one where
the bloke crawls out of a crevasse with broken legs on a south american
mountain!

I assume you mean Touching the Void for the last one? The montain
involved waq Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes, part of the
Cordillera Huayhuash range. I've actually recently been reading up
about the next range up, the Cordillera Blanca, as we're thinking
about visiting it next time we're over there (sometime next year most
probably).
I did a bit of mountaineering and rock climbing before I moved over to
NL and would like to do more in the future. Firstly I'm planning on
climbing the volcano El Misti, just outside Arequipa. It's fairly high
(just under 6000m) but pretty easy to climb so I'd like something that
is more of a challenge, Huascaran perhaps.
Cheers
Jeff

If you want to see a good climbing based action film, watch Cliffhanger.
It's one of Sly's better films!

I hadn't realised you were so versatile Jeff - I'm jealous! We used to
go walking and climbing in Wales and Scotland all the time but havn't
done for years. I ran the Snowdon marathon (round the base not up the
top) a few weeks back and quite forgot how windy and rainy Wales can be!

Lucky bugger!

High altitude in a T shirt! John Lithgow plays a brilliant baddie!

I find it difficult to take him seriously after watching him on 3rd
