So Lewis Hamilton wins the championship. But what the heck happened
with Timo Glock?
I'd love to hear his pit radio on the last lap!
"Kzxx - Er, Timo. a Mr Dennis is on the phone and he says you can have
£5 million if you slow down for 20 seconds"
"Kzxx - Ausgezeichnet! Wo ist mein brake pedal?!"
I thought the same thing. Besides, with a Englishman owning F1 it was
in Glock's interest to see a Brit win.
Aren't you bleating enough over on rasf1?
Glock was on dry tyres, his team-mate (also on dry) set almost exactly
the same lap time and crossing the line he was a further 5 seconds
behind Lewis which he had lost BECAUSE HE WAS ON DRY TYRES ON A WET TRACK.
Get over yourself.
I believe he had to slow down because he was on dry tyres in the rain,
but it did sound suspicious. Unfortunately it didn't occur to the
numpties at ITV-F1 that viewers might like to see replays of the final
moments of the race to clarify what had happended - they were too busy
pontificating and wetting themselves over Hamilton's victory.

And the resident Tory fanboy yet again displays his ignorance in a
public forum. Just keep regurgitating the same misinformed nonsense,
and eventually, you might find enough similarly clueless folk to accept
it as fact.

Have you never driven when it's wet? It gets slippery. Try driving

The adoption of DAB was the most incompetent technical

Glock was lapping faster than Hamilton despite having dry tyres on a
DAMP track. Not only did his fail to defend his postion but he
deliberately slowed down to allow himself to be overtaken
Bullshit. The commentators said that Glock's quarter-lap (or whatever
it was) times were okay. They did not say he was lapping faster than
Hamilton when it was raining and Hamilton was on intermediates and
Glock was on slicks. Also, there was a couple of laps to go when they
said that, so it could have got a lot wetter very quickly - they all
changed tyres when there was only 5 laps to go.
> Not only did his fail to defend his postion but he

I'm not at all convinced by this conspiracy theory nonsense.
I also don't see WTF people have against Hamilton. Unless you're a
Jock, which would explain everything.
>I also don't see WTF people have against Hamilton.
Maybe because he's an arrogant little tosser?
I just love it when non achievers accuse the successful of being arrogant.
AC
Well, that's nonsensical.
Come back when Hamilton isn't an arrogant little tosser.

"Glock: It was impossible on the last lap
Glock: "I was on dry tyres at the end of the race when it was
****raining quite badly**** and it was just impossible on the last
lap. I was fighting as hard as I could but it was so difficult to just
keep the car on the track and I lost positions right at the end of the
lap."
Unless you were actually there in Brazil to dispute Glock's account of
it "raining quite badly" when he was on dry tyres, I'm afraid you're
just tryign to propagate a conspiracy theory.
Are you Scottish by any chance?
Before I respond, could I ask whether you're a Jock, because there's
no point in discussing anything about Hamilton with a bitter
ginger-haired glue sniffing Buckfast swigging string-vest-wearing
Jock, because they're just bitter cos the WORLD Formula 1 CHAMPION is
ENGLISH.
Ar sole and Shorn are so dumb, that they never even noticed that Massa and
Raikkonen have been driving to team orders in almost every other race this
season with Raikkinen bending over and giving away places as and where
necessary. Something Koveleinnen was never in any postion to do.
As a result of which Massa stole at least one victory which should
have been Raikkonens. So that if they had been drawn on points and Massa
won the title based on the number of races won it would have beeen yet
another Ferrari Fiddle.

No, I'm not.
It's really unfortunate that Hamilton's an arrogant little tosser,
isn't it?
I'm sure many more people would've enjoyed his DC win if he wasn't.
I don't know a great deal about F1, but Jodi Shekter (sp?) has been
saying that Hamilton should have won it a couple of races ago anyway
if it wasn't for some of the unfair decisions that went against him.

Rubbish! Do you have proof of your stupid claim?
Presumably you think he's arrogant because in some of the comments
he's made he's said he considers himself to be a good driver. IMO, as
he is obviously is a fucking top driver, why should he basically lie
and make out that he's not a shithot driver just to make himself look
modest to the likes of you?
At the end of the day, he's only 23. Cut the fucker some slack.
So to start with you didn't manage to achieve a working knowledge of

No it isn't. He's earning more money than you could ever dream of, doing a job
he's good at which other people would love to do, while being surrounded by
glamourous women. And a family who all think he's the bees knees. What's unfortunate
about any of that ? Why should he lose any sleep about whether obvious failures
in life like you, are eaten out with envy or not ?
>

He can't help how he is, or his basic personality. And in any case he's
paid to win races, not to win popularity contests.
What you don't appear to realise of course, is that it's the height
of arrogance to expect other people to change their personality
just so as to suit you.
That very same arrogance which you accuse Lewis Hamilton of displaying.
michael adams
...
LOL. There is some mighty strange behaviour on display here. I'm quite
please Lewis Hamilton has won the world championship tbh, and it has fuck
all to do with where he, or indeed I, come from.
You, OTOH, are a fanny. You're not winding anyone up, *mate*, you're just
showing yourself to be an utterly contemptuous little blowhard. Now fuck
off, theres a good chap, what.
He should have done. His problem is that Kovelleinen the 2nd McLaren driver
couldn't offer him a lot of support so he's been racing against the two Ferraris
on his own. It's not a forgone conclusion either that his engine was much better
than the Ferrari so he's done really well. Next year looks promising if Ron
Dennis can get a better second car or driver for the team. It would be nice
to see McLaren picking up the Manufacturers championship next year after the
cheating from Ferrari and just to spite Max Moseley.

Lewis Hamilton ready to overtake Beckham as sponsors' hero
Kevin Eason
A little more than a year ago, a cosmetics company was on the verge of
offering Lewis Hamilton a £50,000 sponsorship, but it pulled out, not sure
if the unknown would hit the big time. Today, that same deal would cost
the company £5 million - and counting.
The rise and rise of Lewis Hamilton is a sporting phenomenon that will
trigger the ringing of cash registers the moment the wheels of his jet
from São Paolo hit the runway in Britain this morning. For, after a year
of driving alongside - and beating - Fernando Alonso, who is paid 44 times
more in salary than he is, Hamilton will start negotiating his payback.
Experts calculate that a £10 million-a-year basic salary is the starting
point but, in reality, the sky is the limit for a youngster on a path to
riches trodden by only the most exalted of stars.

Ahh, but sponsors don't like arrogant little tossers who are disliked
by the public.
You really are a sore loser aren't you? Glock could not defend the position
given his tyres and the track condition, how can you say you follow F1 and
not understand the simple fact that slicks and a wet track don't make for
good lap times. Lewis is WDC he was before going into the last race, at
least if you discount the race fixes applied by the FIA.
That he blows goats?

Same old story here - for some reason they want to knock British success.

Tossers.

What the fuck are you on about? Have you actually watched one F1 race or
just read a few comments on the internet and chimed in? Glock and Toyota
would make the tyre choice, not Hamilton, not McLaren. Get a clue for fucks
sake before posting.
If you dislike it so much try not watching it, reading about it, or posting
about it.
Ferrari is the most recognisable and marketable brand F1 has. Hence the
cries of FIA = Ferrari International Assistance etc. etc.
McLaren: who the fuck are they, just a race team
Renault: daft Euroboxes
Honda: uninspiring Jap 'Euroboxes'
Toyota: see above
It's in the interest of F1 and it's associated bodies to keep Ferrari
happy. If Ferrari went then a whole bunch of money-spending fans (the
Tifosi) would fuck off with them.
Even if 'exotic' manufacturers like Lamborghini or Porsche entered teams
they'd not capture anything like the fanbase of Ferrari, and therefore
none of the lenient 'penalties' or gifted decisions.
Basically, Ferrari win championships because of 'F1 Inc' where McLaren
win championships despite them...

If the situations had been reversed and it was Massa who Glock let
overtake, then the Hamilton fan boys would be moaning like hell.
But no, because its Hamilton who gained an advantage by
unsportsmanlike behaviour then they claim its all down to karma and
totally acceptable
So by your argument it was unsporting for Kimi to let Massa through the
other week as he deliberately slowed to let Massa through. Therefore Massa
has more points given to him through unsporting activity.
Did Paula Radcliffe win because a few hunded yards from the end of
the race her mate deliberately pulled up ?

Both cars had the same level of grip relative to each other for the
entire final lap. Throughtout the first two sectors Hamilton was
making no impression on Glock. Then mysteriously in the final sector
Glock moved off the racing line and lost 5 seconds from the lap time.
Apart from mechanical failure there is no way this would happen in an
honest race.

F1 drivers don't like the Isle of Man. They might have to drive on a
course where people overtake each other.
I'd feel happier if he paid his tax in the country in which he was
born and brought up. He owes it.
--
SAm.
Oh look, a pedantic twat; you can't live with the fact that some people are
happy that Hamilton won the championship fair and square and so you resort
to crying all over this newsgroup about a sport you don't actually like. Why
don't fuck off and watch your repeats of Eastenders or whatever else makes
you happy you sad little man.
When you pay income tax, one of the things you're paying for is the education
you had. You're also paying for healthcare you've already received, and for
basic infrastructure that was available when you were growing up. He owes it.
--
SAm.
I don't actually care all that much. I'm content with the fact that Hamilton
scored more points than anyone else, as you've quoted above. I'm concerned
at some of the incidents which lessened the number of points Hamilton
scored (dubious decisions by judges, for example) and I'm concerned by
some of the incidents which increased it (Glock slowing down yesterday,
for example) all of which tend to put F1 in a dubious state, from the
PoV of genuine sporting endeavour. If those things don't concern you,
you aren't paying enough attention to a sport of which you appear to be
an enthiusiast.
> and so you resort

But, as of next year, will be helping to pay to run. I therefore have a
stake in it, and I'm therefore allowed to express concern if it gives the

I'll quite happily complain about any ex-pat that doesn't pay the tax back
to the UK that they ought to, and hereby do so. Hamilton's case made the

He owes nothing - he hasn't always been a top F1 star, I suppose he

Not really the point. The point of taxation is that you pay your fair share.
If you make more, you pay more.

So, it's completely acceptable to take advantage of the opportunities
presented by being born and brought up in the UK, and then, the moment
you achieve success, to piss off and not contribute your fair share back
to it so that future generations can benefit similarly? Why?

Presumably because he doesn't give a shit about anyone else in his
team who would get more points bonus money for finishing where he was

His pit crew and the many people back at base who worked their nuts

a) Unlike you, Lewis Hamilton never went to University which in your day meant
sponging off the taxpayer for three or four years so you could get yourself a better

b) There's no Government handouts for motor racing training in this country.
c) Hamiltons old man financed his early karting career entirely out of his own
pocket.
d) Living in Switzerland or wherever means the Sun and the tabloids aren't

The wet race that Hamilton won and then was stripped of (Belgium was

kept it on the road in atrocious conditions but made fantastic passes.

Shithole? I could go and live elsewhere if I wished. I choose to live
here. I have half a world to choose from for a place to live.
Do try harder next time. The above got you nowhere.

Eh?
The contrast is between the handouts you did get in the past -
and the handouts people who want take up motor racing such as Hamilton
never get.

Children ? And who's taxes pay for their education I wonder? You just said
above that all that tax you pay helped offest all the taxpayer handouts
you got as a student. And in any case, in all the time since you graduated
the Spivs and the Spivs Lite have been in office and income tax has

That's crap. I buy the Mirror on Saturday for the telly pullout and

Come on. In fact I think its a bit unfair on Hamilton that his old man makes
such a thing of it. He's been driving the kid since he was small, the kid's
got the old man into the limelight and now maybe he should back off a bit.
Its probably the press more than anything encourages it - but he can't
be put in the position where he has to drag his old man around like a millsone
round his neck for the rest of his carreer.
Maybe moving to Switzerland was a polite way of getting him off his back.

Most likely Hamilton lives in a gated millionaire apartment or enclave.
He may even live on a rented estate with a helipad. Again if he did that
in the UK it would be all over the papers how he was getting above himself.

There are wealth qualifications for places like Switzerland, Monaco, the IOM
and Channel Isles for a start.
Doubtless if Hamilton was a smiling smarbag, like a genuine tax exile
such as the scum Branson, credulous types such as yourself wouldn't even
notice but would be lapping up his every word, and saying what a great
person he was.
Somehow the fact that Hamilton stands on a podium proudly waving a Union Jack
and making others proud to be British - which is worth rather more than
a few quid in tax in any case, seems to upset people like you.
Presumably you'd much rather he was dragging this countries image through the
mud in some way, so you could really feel superior.

I read an article the other day explaining how Hamilton's superior co-ordination
and reaction times mean that they can set less down force on his cars than
for any other driver which gives him a big advantage. Less of the power going
into the tarmac and rubber. With any other driver the same settings would have
them spinning all over the road.
With his style of driving he can also weaken and destroy the walls of the tires
however, although the technicalities of that one escaped me.
There was a bit of an ominous phrase in one of his statements something
to the effect " I'd like to thank Ron Dennis for his support since
I started, and..... I've now repayed him for all that support".
I'm not really up to speed on the engines they've got lined up for next
year and if MacLaren are expected to stay competetive but that sounds
like an indication he'd have no compuction about moving elsewhwere.
Ron Dennis retiring would make it easier of course but he missed out
on the constructors championship this year so maybe he'll hang on
for another try. Thankfully he didn't throw it in after Ferrarigate
as many of the pundits were predicting but stuffed Max Mosely instead.
Allegedly.

So what, Hamilton would have paid more in tax from his huge earnings to date
so you're even. The fact that Hamilton will already have paid back whatever
money the government provided for his education and health care to date must
be hard for you to grasp. Now that he earns a reasonable amount he does not
need the NHS to provide him with an average health care service, and if he
has children you can bet he won't be sending them to some grubby
comprehensive school - he will fund everything from his own pocket. It does
show what a sad person you must be, rather than be happy for someone getting
on and winning something you have to pick fault with how they've done it and
where they live.
No you won't.

I wouldn't want to live in any of those places. I've been to IoM and the
Channel Islands. The former is a shithole, the latter OK for a visit but
nothing else. I could safely say I wouldn't want to live anywhere with a
wealth qualification because it's likely to be full of arseholes with more
money than sense. I've seriously considered NZ more than once.

I haven't a clue what you're getting at there. I must be missing something.

How do you make people proud to be British when you immediately piss off?
I'm reminded of that great Scottish Nationalist, Sean Connery.
> Presumably you'd much rather he was dragging this countries image through the

Why would you think that? Could it possibly be because you want to make it
look as if I hold an opinion that actually, I don't? Surely not.
I couldn't be bothered to argue with most of this. It was shit.

He is paid more money than average (I hesitate to use the word `earn'; the
difference between what someone earns and what they're paid is not
appreciated widely enough) so he gets to pay back more. So, as it happens,
do I---but not quite to the same degree.

What is the relevance of the above to the discussion?
> It does show what a sad person you must be
I prefer `just'. I would be happy for Hamilton if I thought he was actually
joining in, but he isn't. The aspiration of the successful Briton is
apparently to piss off. Why would I be happy about that?
> rather than be happy for someone getting
> on and winning something you have to pick fault with how they've done it and

I'm supposed to be overjoyed that Hamilton (and his like, I won't be taken
to task over him specifically) benefit from all the opportunities the UK
has to offer and then pisses off without joining in? He can live where he
likes---as long as he pays his tax.
We're continually told that motor-racing is a sport in which the UK is
strong, on the R&D front, anyway. It's just rather sad that the whole point
of success in the UK is to be able to leave, when, actually, it isn't a bad
place to be. Or is everyone else just saving up to leave?

Er I think you'll find the clue there is in the words "Scottish Nationalist".
I'm not a Jimmy McPisshead myself, and neither as I understand it are
you. However as you have chosen to live amongst them, maybe the thought
had never occured to you that er "Scottish Nationalists" resent paying
taxes to the Westminster Parliament, more especially since the discovery
of North Sea Oil.
On a related Jimmy McPisshead note, given his slurred delivery on "Match
of the Day" - totally innocent no doubt, maybe its a bit unwise of
Alan Hansen to be sitting there advertising Morrisons Hooch with
the bottles right in front of him. Dunno.

McClaren is mainly owned by foreign investors. Mercedes of course and Tag Heuer
the chronograph company, a big owner\sponsor are owned by some Middle Eastern guy.
Oil money owns a lot of the West End of London, and in your own neck of the woods
a lot of Grouse moors, and the greasy scum Fayed owns quite a big Scottish estate.
However - I worked out long ago it doesn't really matter who "owns" a lot of this
stuff in the long run, they can't take it with them out of the country, and just
so long as they're providing jobs, and paying for the maintenance of all this
stuff then that's a positive benefit to the country.
The whole Formula I circus is in any case the creation of the dwarf
Ecclestone who as a result has attracted a lot of foreign money into the
UK which would have otherwise gone elsewhere. FI is an international sport
played out on an international stage.
michael adams

I have an absolutely solid case, and I've made it. No-one has given me
anything back apart from `you must be really sad' and `why do you not
celebrate our heroes' and `people can live where they like' and `it's the
tabloids' and similar shit. I've seen nothing that so much as dents the
case---certainly not from you.

With people like you in the country can you blame them for wanting to leave?
When has it been grammatically correct to break a sentence with three
hyphens?
In other words you can see no possible reason why somebody in Lewis Hamilton's
position should want to go and live in Switzerland, except so as to avoid paying
too much Income Tax.
Which merely shows a lack of imagination on your part, and the fact that you're
clearly obsessed with money. And the fact that some other lucky sods are
clearly getting their hands on a whole lot more of it than you ever will. Ever.
Eaten away with it, you are.
And just think chum, unlike you do, Lewis Hamilton can't get the suitcase out from
under the bed and count out all his money on the kitchen table every Friday night
as he he'd have to stand on a chair to see over the top of it.
michael adams

Obviously not. When I'm here all on my own, I'll still be right.

Given that Hamilton has admitted as much on a high-audience national TV
programme, it seems pointless to suggest anything else. He mutters about
tabloid attention and racism, but actually it's tax.

Clearly it isn't a fact, because I'm not. You think I'm still doing this
job for cash?
