It was to make it sound worse than it was IMHO. If you quote someone as
saying "I invited the vicar round for *** and when he came he spilt *** all
over my ***** carpet" it sounds much worse than quoating them as saying "I
invited the vicar round for tea and when he came he spilt tea all over my
new carpet". Although VLS seems to be either quoting from memory or just
making it up when he wrote that article because some of the quotes are just
wrong. In one of the quotes he uses astrixes to censor the words 'Betty
Both'. Why?

Which, for the sake of future generations and current generations with
past-generation modems, I have transcribed. And written a brief
article about. Which is just introductory. The VLS is obviously
better.

What IS news is that someone has actually been able to get through the "ooh,
mustn't say that!" culture of today's censored and unexciting television.
It is, as was said here recently, controlled to a ridiculous extent that has
less to do with truth than it does to do with ratings and teasing the viewer
into believing that they are privy to something that is, in fact, just a bit
of publicist-created tittle-tattle.

Wouldn't the quotation marks save them? The Mirror, like other tabloids,
have certainly printed things that aren't true with quotation marks around
them in the past. The whole Matthew Wright/John Leslie thing being the
perfect example.

Thats not really the point. The point is that Friendly TV left the mics up,
which is not something you hear everyday on TV. I personaly couldn't care
less what Nicole Kidman does.

Well I seem to get 3 for free at the moment with Prohosting. What I
need to get around to doing is getting a domain. Who's the best
reseller of .co.uk domains? There are so many, and very little to
choose between them. I'm essentially looking for a reasonably cheap
one. (Combined with hosting if possible).

123-reg (http://www.123reg.co.uk) are 99% likely to be the cheapest - plus
they give you full control over where your domain goes afterwards
(nameservers, mail forwarding etc.)
I think they also provide hosting packages through the parent company, Host
Europe.

Most of the hosting packages I've seen are somewhat more expensive
than I'd like - but they also contain features that I would never use.
All I need is Perl CGI on a UNIX server and FTP access. And it has to
be one of those proper domain hosts, not one of the ones which
redirects the domain you bought to a subdomain of their own. (in case
I haven't made myself clear then, I mean like what happens when you go
to http://www.thedailybriefing.co.uk). The ability to configure
subdomains would also be nice.
Ideally I'd like a reliable but spare service providing what I
mentioned above, with the *option* of adding on PHP, SQL, etc, later
on. Hopefully this way I could also save money.
123-reg look a good bet for the domain, though; they seem to have the
UK Online seal of approval.
