I had interpreted it as embarrassment.
And possibly slight annoyance that Saint Shula's Epistle To The Bish
hadn't resulted in Alan turning into a burning bush.
Or something.

Definately icyness. I think she would have expected Bish to have thrown
The Book at Alan.
Totally off thread, but I liked Olly's remark to Jolene when she asked
if he would like ice and lemon with his drink. "I think I'll do without
the ice tonight!" or somesuch.

she also had a fling with a reporter on the echo, but afaik he's just
faded into the background, not dead, run away, or going seriously mad,

Just after Brian and just before 1 Thessalonians.
Yup. Clearly it was lost on her.
She ticked the legal box long ago. Her first husband, Mark, was a
lawyer. He was killed in a car accident. There's some of us in UMRA
who wonder just how accidental the accident was.

Um, didn't the subject of that song kill her parents and siblings? AFAIK,
in spite of strong provocation, StS hasn't even killed her son... yet.

> IRTA The Book of Alan and wondered when that was added to the Bible.
1. And there came a great prophet unto the land of Ambridge, and his name
was called Alan.
2. And Alan performed great wonders in the sight of the people, for lo! he
sought him who was wandering and naked and hungry, and Alan did give him
shelter and clothed him and did feed him.
3. And Alan said "Verily will I build an great mansion, that all those who
wander and are lost may find comfort and shelter there in the name if the
LORD."
4. And the people of Ambridge counselled against him, saying "This is not
fit for a man of the LORD. For he drinketh tea with the mighty of the land,
yea even in their dwelling places, and it is not meet that he give succour
to the lowly in their need. For the LORD concerneth himself not with the
lowly, but sendeth his prophets that they may be polite unto the great. Let
the wanderers remain lost; we want not the lowly in this land."
5. And they rose up and smote Alan, that he could not build the mansion.
But Alan heeded them not and did build it in the land of Bor-set, for he was
an righteous man.
6. And upon his steed made he great journeys throughout the land.
7. And one who saw him loved him. And her name was Usha of the tribe of
Gupta. And Alan saw her, and said unto his daughter "She is wondrous fair,
for her hair is as the raven's wing, her eyes are as the deeps of the night,
and lo! her woodpigeons have caused the Cedar of Lebanon to move."
8. And his daughter said unto him, "Then shouldst thou go for it, innit?
For she is an laugh also, and the elders of our tribes shall have no
dominion in the house of my father."
9. So did Alan take Usha unto his bosom, and they were content. But Shula,
the harlot of the tribe of Heb-den, waxed wroth, for many years ago in the
reign of Jan-et, Shula had lain with the healer who was given unto Usha.
10. And Shula did speak against Usha unto the people saying "It is not fit
that a prophet should lie with one of unclean colour. For is she not of the
tribe of Gupta, who are of the Hin-doo? For they worship not the LORD
meetly, but are an abomination in the sight of the LORD."
11. And some heeded her and did send unto the High Priest that he should
know of this thing.
12. And the High Priest heeded them not, for he was a true man of the LORD,
and he said unto them "Go forth in peace, my children. For thou art
righteous and true, and the LORD loveth these things. And I shall journey
unto the land of Ambridge and there be with thee and exalt thee in the sight
of the people."
13. And Alan and Usha rejoiced, and returned unto their own land. But The
harlot of the house of Heb-den waxed wroth. And she did go about the land
upon her ass, and did plot their ruin.
The Book of Alan and started my off on in jolly way!
I just think it should have a wider audience ----m BBC web pages; the

The name of that place Kim stores the good stuff escaped me for a
moment..oh no, it's come back. BUMRA. Although I did have a vision
of the harlot of Heb-den bottom-shuffling around the land like a
pre-toddler. That's probablywhat made me forget BUMRA, unless it's
just going to be one of those days.

Yes, but you try trying to explain to a serious young electrician why
you've suddenly burst out laughing as he... every way I try to end
that sentence moves me more squarely into Brritski's sightlines.

With dogs that's usually a sign of worms isn't it?
It must be working automatically on my computer because when I saw Btms'

you point it out does it read as above.

The Book of Alan, which is not only funny

but a parable as well.
istr it can also be caused by them having a sore ass.
(next door neighbours have acquired a puppy ... if i play my cards
right i might get to take it for a walk, occasionally.)

When I was a lad I was taught that "One in Kate Bush is worth two in the
hand."

Ah, but the son did show some mysterious medical symptoms for a while.
His problem was initially diagnosed as Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis,
or something like that, but that was clearly a mis-diagnosis, as the
symptoms have now gone away, and they wouldn't have done if Damien had
really had Arthritis.
It's probably sigificant, too, that the child's illness led to her
getting a lot of loving attention from the doctor treating the case.
It has to be Munchausen's by proxy, innit.
i've never heard of munchausen's bp causing someone else to die. i
think she planted the tree for the purpose: none of your airy-fairy
psychobabble.

I'm sure I've read of cases. It's not the intention of the person doing
the harm. but sometimes they go too far or help arrives too late.
