Anyone else notice that there is no EX coding on the SW New Hope disc but
there is on TESB and ROTJ (the indicator on my amp lights up for EX on these
two). Seems odd that they didn't bother doing it on all three, especially as
the sleeve states that it is EX encoded??
David.
Dunno, I just leave it in Logic 7 mode and it does the job of expanding to
7.1, stereo side and rears :-)
Centre Back Channel certainly shows on all SW discs through my Yammy 630.

I've got the R2 version. Strange, wonder if I have a "duff" copy then?? :(
I have a Denon 1804 and a Pioneer 444 and i get no EX as well (R2).
Possibly it's the player's ability to catch the EX flag?
Adrian
Mine is a Denon 2802 and I also have a Pioneer 444. It just seems odd that
my Denon definately recognises the EX "flag" on TESB and ROTJ discs but not
on A New Hope?? Also when you display the "status" on my amp, it shows 6.1
speakers for TESB and ROTJ but only 5.1 for ANH.
It's just irritating from a consistency point of view, that's what is
bugging me!
I've got the same problem, no Centre rear on ANH. I have a Marantz SR-5200
and Toshiba SD-330 :( If it is faulty discs then I would like to know asap
so I can get onto whoever has to replace them.
Tested the rest last night and they all don't do EX. Normally 6.1 is picked
up fine. But i have noticed my 444 is getting loader in operation so it
could be on the way out.

It's possible that it's encoded correctly, but not flagged for the amp
to switch. In which case, you just have to manualy select ES from the
amp.
It's not unusual, there are quite a few disks out there like that
AFAIK.
Gary.
Same here :( I thought / possibly hoped ANH was the only one effected but
obviously not :(
