Not sure where this thread was going on u.m.m.a before the Stinky Guy

Well yeah I suppose. ^_^
>Love Hina: Laziest harem series possible
Nice art, zero story?
Dunno about nice art. The anime's pretty stock stuff, really, and the
manga - Akamatsu constantly sets up opportunities for fanservice, which is
a bad idea if you draw women like formless lumps of clay.

Actually you're right about the anime. The art really wasn't anything
much at all was it... -_- I do like his line work for his manga
though.
>>Burst Angel: Complete and utter shite.
>Something that won't do for a hundred other shows, maybe? :-)
And actually, in light of the rightness of your comment I've changed
my mind and decided to give it a proper 4 word review
Musicless BGC, done badly.
Which if you look at some bits of the animation is pretty valid
comment. I mean some of it looks like it's straight out of some zero
budget mid 80's OAV. 0_o
I'd go with: "I'm smarter than you".
- Oliver
My two bits:
>Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - hacker alludes Major Hooters
:) I think the Producer kinda made her into that. Not that I'm
complaining maybe as much as I could be... Anyway,
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - hacking complicates plot
Majorly?
> FLCL - giving head causes robots
Wickedly funny. How about,
FLCL - head banging delivers robots.
Anyway, people have got to see it to have any chance of having any
idea about it. One of my favorites.
> Dai Guard - Bureaucratic comedy with robot
Dai Guard - Comic bureaucrats drive robot?
Not a suggestion, but a question:
> Sailor Moon R - strong argument for contraception
> Sailor Moon SuperS - stronger argument for contraception
Contraception involving the whole season, or just a certain pink
haired character? I haven't a clue, I've never seen it.
DBB
Just future contraception involving Pink Spores--
And anyone who still gets that joke has probably seen the same limited
amount of shows as the one who wrote it. :)

Okay... some new 4 word reviews for your consideration...
Geobreeders: Girls hunting evil nekojin.
G.T.O. (a.k.a. Great Teacher Onizuka): Oddball teaching impossible class.
Grave of the Fireflies: Japanese youth's wartime struggle.
Nurse Witch Komugi: Soultaker without the darkness.
Those Who Hunt Elves: Strip elves, go home.
> The Four-Word Anime Review List
Here's a few to add to the list.
Fushigi Yugi: Adventures in a book.
Starship Operators: Space Cadets fight empire.
Ai Yori Aoshi: Starts well, Looses plot.

On the other hand, any description whose main feature is large breasts
is not very telling, unless it's describing Eiken.

Girls attending High School could also mean one of the Mai Hime series, or
Best Student Council, etc.
Were there any of the posted ones that you thought met that criteria?

Yeah, but not as specific as "Are the ponytails connected?" or "Don't
pet the cat"...
Derek Janssen
eja...@comcast.net
Mai Hime isn't about girls attending high school, it's about the fights.
I haven't seen Best Student Council, so I don't know as much, but the
writeups on the web seem to make it out as about the political maneuvering
on the council. Azumanga, on the other hand, *is* about girls simply
attending high school.

NOTICE
Thank you for noticing this new notice
Your noticing it has been noted
And will be reported to the authorities
(snip)
I haven't actually seen most of the animes in the list, so I can't
comment on many of them. "Azumanga" fits the criteria for me (perhaps
because I haven't see the Mai Hime series nor Best Student Council). I
also rather not single out particular entries as being "bad".
Here are the some of the descriptions that I feel fit the above
mentioned criteria. Note that if I don't list a descriptions here, it
might simply be because I haven't seen that anime and so couldn't judge
whether or not it fits the criteria. Similarly, if there's an description
listed here that you don't think should be here (because you feel the
description could just as well point to some other anime), it may be
because I've never heard of that other anime.
Angelic Layer: Barbie dolls that battle
Cowboy Bebop: Bounty hunters in space [*]
Death Note: Die by the pen.
Dragon Half: A dragon-girl's misadventures.
Mahoromatic: Android Combat Maid retires.
Mahou Sensei Negima: "Harry Potter"/"Love Hina".
One Piece: Rubber band seeks fortune.
Ranma 1/2: Cursed springs causing trouble.
*: I don't know if "Bounty Hunters in Space" really "uniquely"
describes Cowboy Bebop, but I've heard that description associated with CB
so much that it's hard for me to think of any other anime when I hear that
keyphrase.
Side note:
I've only seen the first two episodes of Comic Party, but the
description "Otaku tolerance training video" made me think of Genshinken.
Some of the above descriptions fit my criteria, but just barely, in
the sense that for some of them, I'd really have to rack my brain to
figure out which anime is being referred to.
- Oliver
Suggest "Harry Potter harem series" - it's not particularly more like Rub
Hina than any other bad harem series.

Makes me think of half a dozen series... "Schoolgirl detachable hair
bunches" is more likely to make me think of Azumanga...
>On the other hand, any description whose main feature is large breasts
>is not very telling, unless it's describing Eiken.
Ah but "busty schoolgirls fight lots" may potentially describe several
series but the chances are people are going to like the type of show
since they're all much the same.
Perhaps it's because I'm inferring a " and that's it" at the end of
"Girls attending high school" that I immediately associate it with
Azumanga. Any other anime I've seen involving girls attending high school
usually have some other feature (e.g. they fight, or they're magical, or
they're neko-robots, etc.) which would seem worth mentioning.
Or maybe I just picked a bad example. Hopefully, the criteria I'm
discussing is clear, even if "Azumanga: Girls Attending High School" does
not seem to fit that criteria.
- Oliver
Well, *I* rather like: "It's not our fault"... ^_^

Pretty obvious, I think!
How about "That's not my fart"?

Last one sounds a bit like a nunnery, on second thought.
Same in La Verite. It's a fish out of water story, kid comes from hand to
mouth life with his mother to being the center of attention in a mansion.
He's a bit timid, but not indifferent. Many of the episodes focus on him
winning over one or more of his maids by being attentive to them.
There is one character that I feel sorry for in the series - Mariel. She's
more of a programmed robot than many series' androids.
Actually I'm going to change my own mind and go with "Make Beds Not War".
This is getting sort of like haiku writing, endlessly searching for the
perfect word combination, though not so deep and meaningful I guess. ;-)
