The place hasn't been the same since the baths disappeared from the
walls of the Tut 'n' Shive.

I used to hate shopping there, all the stuff used to only have a shelf date
of about one day, be it bread or meat etc.
If they ran low, they refused to put any of the fresh stuff out until all
the skanky bits had sold.
If anything did make it to the non existent reduced section, then you got a
hole 10p off of a £5 item.
When are they building an M&S then?

I sort of forgave all that because they made an effort with the beer to
start with. Then that went down hill and it just filled up with the usual
swill-drinking no-hopers. The last time I looked they had bloody sofas in
there. If I wanted to sit on a sofa and drink beer I could do that for half
the price at home.

Yes, they still haven't filled it in. Waitrose on the other hand won't be
open until later this week.

They've sent out invites to various Kenilworth 'worthies' to preview the
store on the 30th and sample some of their food. I have a man on the inside
and will report back later if the 'blag' was
successful......................

Didn't go in the end. Other priorities beckoned.
I'm told that Sainsbury was practically empty today and you could have
parked a 32 tonner in the spaces in the car park. Maybe an exaggeration or
maybe all of Kenilworth has moved in one fell swoop over to the dark side.
Whoever thought that you could have two major 'premium' supermarkets in
Kenilworth in a era of increasing fuel and food costs needs their bumps
felt.
In the meantime, as the Co-Op have bought Somerfield, I'm looking forward in
future to some slightly less 'pikey' shopping experience a bit closer to me
that either of the two thieving food halls and an even fatter divvy check at
the end of the year.

Ha, Coventry City council have been trying to get Waitrose in Coventry for
years... Although Kenilworth is between Leamington and the decent parts of
Cov, so it's got a decent catchment.

Prices of basics are probably no higher than Sainsburys, lots of
quality stuff though for those who want it.
No cafe though - that's a big disappointment.
The place is clean, the staff look like they are enjoying the work and
have more than one brain cell, the selection is huge.
No doubt the well-heeled will flock there - you only had to look at
how often the Ocado van was around the town to see that there is
definitely a market.

Plenty of people from Earlsdon will also be heading there judging by the

As if it wasn't bad enough that we have to cope with all the pensioners and
inbreeds! Now we'll be surrounded by university lecturers and, worse still,
secondary school teachers. There could be a critical mass of beige polyester
and then a lethal static electricity discharge by the Organic Tofu.

I've never met a Uni Lecturer or a teacher round us - it all seems to be
people who for work for themselves or Jaguar/LR.

What, the school teachers or Waitrose?
Didn't think personal hygiene was high on the list of priorities for

You'd have to define decent. They've normally got a good selection of the
usual posh organic mushy's and some nice looking 'crimini' button mushrooms.
Mushrooms are just about the only product where I would splash out a bit
extra on organic.

Haven't seen them in waitrose. You tend to find Shimeji in Japanese cuisine,
so you'll most likely find them around specialist shops near to certain
large car factories!! ;-)

I don't think it's been hot enough for long enough this year. It is a week
or two early for the majority, but there should have been giant puffballs
for a while now but I haven't seen any yet.

Tend to be expensive delivery online. Sainsbury's started selling them
briefly last year, but now only sell them packs with Oyster mushrooms.
