British casualty in Afghanistan in 2010.
Last year was the bloodiest for British troops since the Falklands War
in 1982 with 108 soldiers dying in the battle against the Taleban.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the soldier, from the 1st Battalion
The Royal Anglian Regiment, died in an explosion while patrolling the
Nad-e Ali area, in Helmand yesterday. His next of kin have been informed.
Lieutenant Colonel David Wakefield, the spokesman for Task Force
Helmand, said: “His dauntless courage and his sacrifice will not be
forgotten.”
