Hi!
I'm from Germany and coming to
visit Wales this summer. I'll
be staying around Brigend for
a week. Of course I've got an
official guide book of things
to see, but I bet there are
many more interesting things
than those run-of -the-mil
tourist attractions.
I'm interested in history,
churches and all things that
really give an insight into
welsh living.
Anybody know something I
shouldn't miss?
Thanks,
Eva

Try the Big Pit in Blaenavon (coalmine). :)

It's no more than an hours drive from Bridgend.

Probably best to visit Cardiff and go to some night-clubs. I doubt if
Churches really show how most people really live. Saying that having visited
Llandaff Cathedral the other week (which is in Cardiff) I found it an
interesting and strangely surreal place. Cardiff Castle and Castell Coch are
also interesting though baring in mind the Marquise of Bute was obsessed
with Germanic Gothic architecture and they wouldn't look out of place "am
Rhein" I'm not sure if you'll find them typically Welsh.

Wiedersehen

Thank you for the prompt reply to my message. Actually, I'm not much of a night
club person, but maybe I'll give it a try!

Then there's Llancaiach Fawr Manor House, Nelson...Rhondda Heritage Park,
Porth... The Museum of Welsh Life, St. Fagans...Techniquest Science, Cardiff
Bay (OK - not particularly Welsh heritage, but fun anyway!)
I would imagine all the above are mentioned in your guidebooks Eva.
