Intersetingly, Christchurch (one word, folks, two words makes it part of
some university somewhere...) is noted in NZ for having a major right
wing / skinhead / neo-nazi / racist problem.

A friend of mine was staying in a youth hostel near the centre
(Cathedral Square) and the local white power youth kicked off against
the local maori youth sometime around midnight. Goes on all the time...
Another mate (pakeha = white) was drinking the dole cheque away one
afternoon down there and was just passing the time of day with a maori
chap. All fine, maori guy left, then a skinhead came over to my mate and
was about to bottle him just for 'talking to a smelly black'...

Also noted for extreme homophobia.

Guess that makes it most British then ;-)
