Most binary groups are very active, pictures, sounds, books, etc.
The text based groups I subscribe to at the moment are quite active but
some previous very well patronised groups have gone by the wayside in
the past couple of years. I think most of those have moved on to
forums. Personally I do not not like forum based discussions as I find
it hard to follow some threads unless you are sitting permanently in
front of the computer watching the replies come in, but I guess that's
progress for you. Subscribing, logging on, sign in, I am being
controlled too much for my liking, whereas Usenet is so much better,
just pop in pop out and its organised.
I am all for new technology, but touch-screen working and gobbledygook
text speak don't cut the mustard with me. Too many companies trying to
control what they want people to use and people fall for it :'(
As for farcebook and twatter, just don't go there :-?
