That shop (Aquafleet) moved a few doors away to smaller premises and no longer
sells livestock. It only sold tropical and cold water fish before anyway.

There's (well there was when I was there a few years ago) a great shop in
Beckenham selling cold, tropical and marine fish. Can't remember the name,
check Yellow Pages. It's the best anywhere around here for miles.

Have you kept any fish before?

Keeping marine fish is a very, very expensive science. I wouldn't recommend it
unless you've successfully mastered keeping a balanced tropical tank for a few
years, at least.

Yer I keep fish alright :) I've kept fish all my life (so far). I have a
3ft-something tank, home to a lonely but very aggressive Cichlid ("Jack
Dempsey" - common name - named after some boxer). He's reached eight inches
now (was 2" new). I also keep a 2ft quarunteen tank handy.

"...a bit..."? <G>

If you approach the (his!) tank, he's even got the cheek to come up to the
glass and threaten you! He's got brilliant eye sight, mind. He always
recognises ME when I come with his food and he gets very excited - doing his
rapid wiggle thing! :)

thats is the brillant thing about chilids, i love them best, i was going
to get an oscar a while back but didn't have room for a big enough tank,
my chilids know when it is dinner time 6pm and if i dont feed them on
time they all get in a mood it is very funny:-)

Yer, Oscar's are great too. When my "Jack Dempsey" finaly goes to that little
lake in the sky I'll be trying a few Firemouth's again - or perhaps even some
Discus!

Which Cichlid's have you got, then?

If I forget to feed my one then he waits by the glass until I walk past, and
starts to do his little "FEED ME!" dance :)

How do you pronounce it, Kitch-lids, Chitch-lids or Sick-lids?

they have the best character in the world, i have African chilids in my
3ft tank! firemouths are nice but discus dont have enough character for
me, they are too boring!
the only prob is that i only have 3 (they cost £7 each and that is all i
get a week so it takes me at least 3 weeks to save up for one, i have to
buy rabbit, guinea pig, fish and dog food as well) and the biggest one
picks on the rest and keeps them pinned in the corner so i need some
more to even it out:-)
i pronounce it chil-ids
