the roads early this morning or lunchtime (Tunbridge Wells).
Four times, on the 3 mile journey to work, I had to dig a channel in the
snow for me to get out of slipping wheels.
Lunchtime it took me 15 minutes to get out of 10 metres work driveway to
main road due to digging away snow. And on the way home travelling at 10 to
15 mph I did a 180 degree slip in the road. Nope, not due to touching
brakes or steering just slippery roads (ice on slush).

Also, all this snow ploughs, gritting costs a lot of money and where will
the council get the cash for this ?
Oh, your council tax ( which increases by above the rate of inflation every
year) goes to pay salaries and pensions of the employees. Nothing is left

Yep, let us blame the government. With renewed cut backs I am loath to see
the future of poor public services including snow blocked roads. Its then
British industry wake up to their costs and blame the governement red or
blue.

I believe it was a car blocking the road. The trouble with Tunbridge Wells'
roads is that you only need heavy rain, manhole cover up, car across part of
the carriageway etc and the whole road system grinds to a halt or
thereabouts.

My point entirely. I couldn't see any evidence of salt or grit let alone
see any gritting vehicles. They only come out on dry roads at night.

You're right of course, it never snowed under the Tories, and if one or two
flakes did have the temerity to land on Britain's hallowed soil they didn't
disrupt public transport or the road system. Yes, it was much better
then...

Looking in from the outside, I get the impression that the UK was doing
quite well under Labour until the present economic crisis, which has been
caused by the greedy private bankers around the world, and which no
Government of any political persuasion can truly get a handle on.
