My ex-partner, who is disabled and unable to decorate for herself, rang
around for quotes from a number of (apparently) reputable firms to decorate
her lounge. The results were to say the least surprising- they varied from
£50 to £300 for the same job.

I think they all offered to start pretty much immediately.

In the end I went around and did it for her.

Mmmm..... Perhaps our resident fascist (tescoprat) could advise us if
one of those foreign painters and decorators is of Austrian extraction,
has a small moustache, floppy hair and tendency to jerk his right arm up
and down- with or without a paint brush in his hand?

I once heard it suggested that the Nazi salute came about because young Adolph was caught jerking his hand up and down in embarrassing circumstances, and invented the salute as a cover story. Perhaps tescoprat could advise if this is true?

Girls are looking for waitress/chambermaid, men are looking for
groundsman/handyman type work. 2/3 of the many calls we get this time
of year and yes we ask them their nationality and yes if we have a
vacancy and they suit the job we would employ them and have in the past.

They nearly all seem to be on the Island already although some are from
the mainland. We do get e.mails from Poland though.

The bloke that decorated my bungalow at the end of last year did a very
good job and reasonably priced.

He just does work on a recommendation basis mail me and I'll give you
his name & number.
