A nice bit of coastline near me is potentially threatened with
industrial development. This includes some land which was dedicated to
the public by a member of the Royal family. Does such dedication give
the land any special protection? The land in question was owned by the
now defunct C.E.G.B.

Not automatically, although there may be something in the actual wording of
the deeds which does. Even so, though, that can be overriden later.
This is a question which is impossible to answer without full knowledge of
all the relevent details, and if you were planning to rely on it in a legal
sense then you would definitely need professional advice before doing so.
Of course, if you just want to highlight the fact in any campaign against
the development then the royal dedication may well be a useful aid to your
cause. A lot depends on how determined the current owners are to actually
develop the land, and whether they're prepared to face down any opposition.
